Happy Easter!
Happy Easter from Foxes class ♥️
Foxes class had a fantastic final day of the Spring term, having the opportunity to take part in lots of Easter and Spring related activities. From decorating easter eggs to making Easter wreaths, the children had a much deserved fun-filled day after their hard work throughout the half term. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and restful break.
Geography - Nature all around us
In Geography this week, Foxes class have applied their learning from throughout the half term to create a fact file all about Australia. Discussing the location and climate of Australia, nature found in Australia and human and physical features of Australia, the children demonstrated the fantastic progress they have made by retrieving their knowledge and creating unique pieces to showcase the beautiful country.
''Australia's climate is Arid which means dry.'' - Dalton
''A famous animal in Australia is a Kangaroo. They have big, strong legs to help them jump.'' - Brianna
RE - Beginnings and Endings
In RE this week, Foxes class have completed their learning all about beginnings and endings. Focussing on how the ending of one thing can become the beginning of another, the children discussed how the end of their journey in their current year group could mark the beginning of their journey into the next year group. Using this theme, the children designed their own celebration that they would like to throw to remember their time in Foxes class. Alongside drawing their celebration, the children planned for where this event would take place, who would be invited and anything specific that guests would be able to take part in.
Reading - Monty the Manatee
This week in reading, Foxes class have explored a narrative text called 'Monty the Manatee'. Focussing on the journey of a young Manatee who was experiencing his first day at sea school, the children were introduced to four new pieces of vocabulary that could be found in the text. Focussing on the words 'ugliest', 'interested', 'offend' and 'clumsy', the children created their own sentences which used these words in the correct context before working with a partner to identify them within the text.
Science - Plants: Art and Nature
This week in science, Foxes class have completed their learning all about plants. Looking back at their learning from the past seven weeks, the children were given the task of 'to show what I know', and were encouraged to show their understanding of the names and function of the basic parts of a plant alongside the features and properties of evergreen and deciduous trees. Once again, the children displayed the fantastic progress that they have made and were able to clearly articulate their learning in great detail.
