At Kidsgrove Primary School, we believe that Art and Design plays an essential role in developing creativity, confidence and self-expression. Our art curriculum gives children opportunities to explore a wide range of materials, techniques and artistic styles, helping them to discover their own interests and talents.

Children learn to draw, paint, sculpt and experiment with different media while developing important skills such as observation, imagination, problem-solving and critical thinking. Through studying artists, designers and craftspeople from diverse cultures and time periods, pupils gain an understanding of how art reflects the world around us and has shaped society throughout history.

We place great value on creativity as a tool for wellbeing, communication and personal growth. Our lessons encourage children to take risks, express ideas and reflect on their work in a supportive environment. Sketchbooks, high-quality resources, enrichment activities and opportunities to learn from real artists help bring the subject to life.

Our aim is for every child to leave Kidsgrove as a confident, imaginative and reflective young artist who appreciates the creative arts and understands their importance in everyday life.
