This week Reception Rabbits have been learning about life cycles and in particular, the life cycle of a butterfly.

Children have produced some wonderful writing and are very knowledgeable about this.

‘The butterfly lays an egg’

‘The egg hatches into a caterpillar’

‘The caterpillar forms a cocoon’

‘The cocoon hatches into a beautiful butterfly’

The children talked about the butterflies being symmetrical. They looked at different patterns on the butterflies. In maths, the children created their very own symmetrical butterflies.

Our friends in the Nursery grew their own butterflies- they are still in their cocoon! So we can’t wait for them to hatch!

Reception Rabbits are really working on independence now and really are becoming ready for year 1. When accessing the provision, they are learning to develop their own narratives, work as a team and working on improving their creations and how they can continue getting better and better.

Children this week continued their writing journey- encouraging independence when applying their phonics knowledge into writing, and using colourful semantics to correctly sequence and structure their sentences. Every day, we have a picture stimulus and write using our personal next steps to progress every day. This weeks stimulus was a Spring picture.
