Summer 2, Week 2

Happy Father's Day! This week, Foxes created cards to celebrate the special men in their lives. I hope that you all have a wonderful day spending time with your loved ones.

Science - Habitats and Homes

This week in science, Foxes class have used a range of materials to design and create bug hotels. Learning about how certain mini beasts such as ladybirds, lacewings and bumble bees are important for allotments, the children thought of different ways to attract these to the area. Deciding on bug hotels that provide a safe place, they used used cardboard, paper, pine cones and pebbles to create their very own mini beast habitats.

Writing - The Tempest

In writing this week, Foxes have created their own messages in a bottle. Based on a new character in our story whose role as king has been stolen by a castaway, the children used conjunctions and expanded noun phrases to write a letter or advice. After writing their message, the children rolled up the paper and placed it in the bottle ready to send out at sea.

Computing - Data Handling: International Space Station

This week in computing, Foxes have thought about what they would take if on a journey to space. First looking at people who live on the International Space Station and how they meet their basic needs of eating, drinking and washing, the children discussed the items that they would take. Using our online learning programme, the children drew and labelled these items.

History - The Stone Age

Adding to previous learning about what historians believe about why Stonehenge was created, this week in history, Foxes have learnt about how this iconic landmark was built. Learning about the transportation of stones and the digging of ditches to stand the stones up and make them secure, the children created a storyboard to show and describe the process.
