Owls have been studying forces in Science. We have learnt what forces are and how to identify them. We have conducted experiments to observe friction and water resistance and this week we devised an experiment to test the impact of air resistance. In groups, children discussed what air resistance was and collectively created a testable theory accounting for variables and fair test conditions. We built parachutes of different sizes with the hypothesis that the larger the surface area of the parachute the greater the air resistance and therefore slower the parachute would fall. Allowing for some scientific anomalies our hypothesis was proved correct.
