Year Six Forest School
At the start of term Year Six took ownership of the school’s forest school area. Between them they decided what they wanted to include and the areas that needed improving. Slowly but surely the area is developing to include a fire pit area and mud kitchen.
Den building has definitely been a firm favourite from day one. This has developed into learning what knots can be used to attach rope to the trees or tie sticks together. It is hoped as the year progresses that the Year Six’s forest school skill will develop to include using knives and lighting a fire. They are currently building up trust and respect for each other before we embark on this, but I know we will achieve it!
As part of this term’s topic we have incorporated the Ancient Greeks; making clay Medusas on the trees and creating a Forest School Olympic event.
